Duarte skatepark is worth checking out at least once to see if you like it. The flow area is better than most and offers up a well placed spine in the middle. Plenty of small street stuff to hit. The bowl is 6'-8' and offers up 1' of vert. The two bowl areas are seperated by a saddle that can be great for generating speed, once you figure it out. The coping is well set and worth a visit. I don't think it has lights, so it closes at dusk. Sadly, bikes sneak in so beware of damage and possible collisions. Opened in 2003.

This is my first review but i would like to say this is a great park. I really enjoy the flow section. You can start off somewhere and after your first run you can come up with a line. Everything here is pretty mellow. The bowl is really fun. It is about 6 to 8 ft high and has vert. The park does not have lights but it is always open. Be careful because bikes and scooters roll in. This park is worth checking out.

I would suggest that someone make the trip to this park, it is really fun and the locals are pretty chill there, no druggie kids or n e of that. there occasionally will be a kid or two on scooters, but as far as bikes go they do not come here that often due to monrovia skatepark being right by there. defietly a fun park. the only downside would be the lack of lights but the baseball field by the park has bright lights which keep the skatepark illuminated for a while, but the bowl remains dark :/. good park, check it out sometime

Duarte is not really my style as far as skateparks go. Although, this could be due to the fact that I had an incredibly bad slam here. When you find yourself waking up at the bottom of the bowl THREE TIMES before you remain conscious long enough to climb out, you've had a pretty hard slam.
Said bail happened in the bowl.
I do not like the Duarte bowl.
The problem is that the park is unsupervised, and hence a little ghetto, and lots of degenerates graffiti up the place. As a result, the city tries to "fix" the graffiti by painting over it. And what do they use? That freakin' glossy grey anti-graffiti paint which is more slippery than a Washington D.C. intern. I tend to skate Powell G-Bones at 97A. Those wheels never slip. Ever. They are really grippy. But they slide-out on me every run in the Duarte bowl, just because of that damn paint!
Duarte was the second skatepark I ever rode in Los Angeles and that fall happened on my very first visit. I skated there one more time after that and still didn't dig the place very much. The amoeba bowl has an odd speed-bump/saddle thing just above the waterfall - I've never seen any other bowl designed that way; I suspect the intention is to pump off of it and gain some speed, but it's really a bit too small to pump. It kind of just launches you more than anything. Weird. I didn't really get the point, but maybe I was missing something.
Locals wear no gear, so when you slap on a helmet and kneepads, be prepared to be given very strange looks by kids in flannel shirts. The locals are cool kids and can totally shred the place like you wouldn't believe. It's fun just to watch them do such killer stuff on such limited terrain. There are some exceptionally creative skaters jamming in Duarte.
Watch for badly-poured rough concrete around the bank in the northwest corner of the park. Other than that, the place has some nice flow and interesting lines. There's a weird spine thing in the middle of the park which is kinda rad and different. Overall, it's a nice park for young locals with no car and no money who need a place to ride. Definitely check it out if you are in the area. Had I grown up in a neighborhood with a park like this I'd have been way stoked. Killer for the locals. If you are old enough to drive and can check out other parks, don't go out of your way to come here. There's not much to it.
