Belvedere Skatepark Grand Opening
Words and Photos: Eddie Hadvina

The grand opening at the brand new Belvedere skatepark in East Los Angeles was done with class and style. It was really an honor to participate in such a prideful event as this was.

This bowl is deep, good flow, and lots of vert.

Pro skaters Ben Schroeder, Tony Alva and Ryan Johnson were invited to help in the ceremony, youth lessons, and skateboarding exhibitions. Supervisor Goria Molina, Congress women Hilda Solis, and other county officials were at hand to dedicate the new $1.1 million dollar new state of the art skatepark to the community of

East Los Angeles, which was funded through Propositions 12 and 40. The 18,000 sq ft concrete skate facility includes a refurbished restroom facility, a picnic area, adequate lighting, and spectator bleachers.

Tony Alva spoke eloquently with a well done speech.

All sorts of skaters tested out the new concrete, which included the Santa Monica Airlines team skaters, Sacrifice team skaters, and a host of skaters ripping.

The park was packed with alot of locals and skateboarders from all around Southern California. Among them, Robert and James also inspected and approved the conrete

The event was well planned out, including live music, good food, and of course skating. Also credited in facilitating this event were Paco, Francisco Chabran, and Gary Libsack. All the officials really accommodated everyone nicely, including the public, all skaters, photographers, vendors, etc.

Special thanks to LRM and all of the skateboarders who participated in the designing and building of this skatepark specifically Ben Schroeder and Ryan Johnson.

Protec Pool Party 07 Pro Finals Video

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

This years pro’s finals was very interesting with some much debated results and riders making it to the finals. There were 3 pro preliminary heats (videos to be posted soon) that were extremely heated and difficult to judge. In the end we got a finals with some of the best vert dogs in the world. Rune and Bucky were the two skaters that really stood out in the end and captured the top 2 spots. Enjoy..

Protec Pool Party 07 Masters Finals Video

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

We (I) have a ton of video to go through - roughly 6 hours worth and I thought I would throw this one out there first. The Masters Finals were amazing this year.

We will have full an article posted with full video coverage and photo coverage in the coming days. For now enjoy the Masters Finals. It is really tough to shoot during this contest and I don’t consider myself an accomplished contest filmer but under the conditions it turned out very nice. ENJOY.

Protec Pool Party 07 Masters Prelims Video(s)

The question I had before this year’s contest was how much longer will these guys continue to push themselves and compete in events like the Protec Pool Party. After the event was over I still have the same question in my mind and I hope we will get to see skaters like Cab, Duane, Lance, Schroeder and the rest for many years to come. Is this realistic, who knows but for now enjoy and respect the skateboarders who help to formulate what is possible in skateboarding and who put it on the line in one of the best pool events you can witness..
