The problem is the majority of the weight is in the hanger, not the base plate. The base plate is so small and close to the board that changes to it dont amount to much more than marketing.

Years ago there were trucks called Ti-Lites. They were really light. I also had a pair of grindking trucks. I took them apart and measured them for fun. The Grind King base plates were lighter but the hangers on the Ti-Lites were lighter. That over all made them(Ti-lites) lighter though on the board I couldnt feel the difference.

Indy and Thunder have forged base plates on some of there truck that they say make them lighter. But really cant tell but forging is a process that makes them stronger though Ive never broken a regular base plate my self.:up:

But for the sake of fun, its cool to have that stuff, as i just picked up some Thunders Lights from Mike. Hollow Kingpin and forged base plate. Comparing to Indy it my hands I cant tell the weight difference:D
