Enlighten me on these trucks. 150.00 ...what do they give you over the average 40.00 pair of trucks?

Nice racket, but I think I'd rather skate my $40 Indy's any day.

Nobody is gonna make a living selling precision milled trucks at that price point. I think it is awesome that Ron is willing to deliver a quaility truck for a niche market and the few folks that might be interested in buying them. A few other mfg have delivered a precision truck in the past (and current) but normally for the downhill and slalom guys who demand a tight setup (expensive as well). Ron has made this product available to the vert skaters that want a tight setup and can afford to spend some bucks on what they like to ride. I would think the extra performance that these trucks deliver will not make a big difference for most riders and it is more of a FEEL difference.
Most people can't afford a Corvette either. He's gonna sell a lot more bearings and wheels then he will precision trucks. And if I was a heavy grinder I don't know if I would want to spend that kinda money on somthing I'm gonna grind the crap out of and have to replace. Some people just want the best setup possible, simple as that!

I think it's great that Ron is taking this all up it to the next level.
It's not for everybody. But if the experience matters to you (like me) then you will stop at nothing to bump it up a notch. Ron's bearings are a perfect example. He could have stopped with the steels, but no, he went for the ceramics. Could have stopped there, but no, Phase II's (amazing bearings), then only weeks later the Ballistech's (more amazing). He clearly takes these leaps with little regard for profit. Any "normal" business operator would stop. I believe Ron makes these advances in spite of sacrifice. This IS skateboarding after all.
...Yeah, I was stoked on my first ball bearing ride too. I guess that could have been a comfortable technological stopping place. Oh yeah, that complete cost all of $14.95.

What I wanted to know is what makes it so good>? Someone making a comparison to a Corvette, well the Corvette is far above and beyond the Average car.
What is the advantage of this truck over the average 40.00 pair? Just so you can tighten the wheels more? Do they turn much better? Will you go higher on your airs..grind father?
Are they lighter? Thats what Im asking. What performance improvements do you get.

i have to agree with rollin on this one. i dont think my current skate setup costs as much as the trucks. hes a good guy making good stuff though so more power to him.

There's several noticeable advantages. The 8mm axle eliminates wheel slop on the axle. It may not seem like much, but you'd be surprised how much response is lost by that little bit of slop. It's kind of like driving a car with a worn out front end: it goes sort of where you point it. The 8mm axles eliminate that slop, so you go exactly where you aim, instantly. Assuming these are done like my prototypes, the axle is also threaded only to the edge of the outer bearing, so the bearing isn't sitting on the threads (a source of even more slop on standard axles). The faced hanger, when used in conjunction with bearing spacers, insures that the bearing is seated exactly 90* to the axle. That equals more speed, and longer bearing life.
The main difference between these, and the protos I've been riding for a while, are the baseplates (mine have stock Dart plates). The RT-X baseplate and custom pivot bushing slightly change the angle of the truck, making it turn even quicker.
These definitely aren't for everyone, but having been used to this sort of performance from slalom trucks for several years now, it was always a let down to have to use standard trucks for pools and parks. I can't imagine going back to stock trucks again...

I'd ride Indys if they could do what I need them to do, but since they can't...

Oh ok..I see how Slalom guys would need them while doing slalom. But unless you just carve in the pool all day, it must just be like having BLING BLING. :D
Must good skaters just use the stock truck and rip. The pros could ride anything but most just have a regular truck. I have seen many even riding the stock INdy bushings and those suck.
Indy and even Trackers with bones bushings are fine..But its cool Ron took the time for the Niche Market:up:

Yeah, $150 seems like a lot of money for trucks, but then people are paying $75-100 for ceramic bearings. Like anything else, quality costs money. I wouldn't expect the price to be anything close to a mass produced truck - he basically has to buy the Tracker trucks and totally rework them. I guess time will tell whether precision engineered trucks are something people want. If nobody ever tried making things better we wouldn't have super fast wheels, or concave decks, or ...
As sports go, skateboarding is insanely cheap. Any of you that snowboard or surf know what it costs to get setup. If you have fun, it's probably worth whatever it costs.

If by BLING BLING you mean faster wheels and more precise handling, well, then yes... :)
People who ride the same bearing/wheel setup I do have tried my board and have been amazed at how much faster it is than theirs. Truck mods like this have been common in slalom for several years, but this is the first time someone has stepped up and made them readily available in wider widths...

Don't do what you need them to do? what the hell do you need them to do, tickle your ass with a feather while you carve the park all day?.....thats funny!

No, I just need them to turn tighter. On a 22" wheelbase, Indys just don't cut it...

Sorry, Tickle Feathers are so 80's like copers and sky hooks they turned out to just be a fad.
